About Us

Why China?

China is one of the oldest continuously functioning cultures. The Chinese language has existed since the time of the Pharaohs. When Europe was struggling through the dark ages and the plague, China was in an advanced discovery in the sciences and exploding in the arts. The Tang Dynasty was producing some of the world's greatest poetry during it reign from 618 to 907 AD. Before the end of the Song Dynasty, China had invented its four great inventions: paper (~8 BC), movable type printing (~1000 AD), compass (~1000 AD) and gunpowder (~900 AD).

How did we arrive in China?

In October 2007 we went on a tour with Norm's brushpainting teacher. The photo below shows us on Ann and Norm in Hutongsour tour of the Hutongs in Beijing. During the Suzhou part of the tour the son of one of our tour member came to meet with his mom. He and his wife were teaching English at the Hangzhou University. He informed me as to how to make application to teach in China. The rest is history.
